CSIRO Opportunity:
Health and Biosecurity is one of the most high profile areas of CSIRO. As their Communication Advisor you will work closely with the Communication Manager to drive external campaigns and communications activities that protect and build the CSIRO and Health & Biosecurity brands. You will work closely with CSIRO’s health & nutrition program, (home of the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet) as well as our Biosecurity research programs.

Your duties will include

  • Contributing to the implementation of the Health & Biosecurity communication strategy and ensuring alignment with the broader Corporate Affairs strategy.
  • Identifying compelling stories within Health & Biosecurity, executing media campaigns and liaising with media to share these stories; managing interviews and requests for information, and running media events.
  • Creating relevant, engaging content for use in digital or media to illustrate CSIRO’s impact, if skilled in video editing using those skills on the content created.
  • Assisting with broad strategic and operational communications and activities to ensure an integrated communications and marketing approach.
  • Building and maintaining team-focused relationships across all areas of the Health & Biosecurity and Corporate Affairs team

 

Location:      Brisbane/North Ryde/Melbourne/Canberra/Adelaide
Salary:          $82K to $93K plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure:         12 Month Term

To be successful you will need

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant area, such as PR, communication, journalism, or equivalent experience.
  • Solid experience (at least  three years) in managing integrated communications campaigns.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage media enquiries, proactively pitch stories, write and edit news releases and manage news events to achieve favourable and strategic media coverage.
  • A history of creating original content for digital audiences. 
  • Ability to work across all areas of communication, including developing marketing collateral, brochures, webpage updates and at times event coordination.
  • The ability to manage multiple deadlines whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail and quality focus.
