First Assistant Secretary ICT Delivery

Defence is seeking an outstanding senior executive to lead its Information Communications and Technology Delivery Division.

The Chief Information Officer Group is responsible for ensuring that Defence has a dependable, secure and integrated Defence Information Environment to support Defence business and military operations. 

As the First Assistant Secretary Information Communications and Technology Delivery, you will be responsible for: 

• Leading the Delivery Division to deliver quality integrated solutions in 
support of strategic directions 
• Managing the program and project portfolio 
• Providing strategic leadership on delivery strategies and major projects 

To be a strong contender for this role, you will need to have extensive ICT industry experience in managing large and diverse workforces, and have a demonstrated ability to manage and deliver high cost, highly visible, large scale and complex programs and projects. You will have strong verbal communication skills, and an ability to communicate highly technical information to non-technical senior Defence executives. 

As a member of the Senior Leadership Group, you will engage and influence stakeholders and staff towards achieving Defence capability outcomes. You will have responsibility and accountability for delivering the First Principles Review and for a ‘One Defence’ approach to the planning, management, monitoring and reporting of key deliverables to Government. You will set a strong performance culture.

The location of this position is negotiable and the associated remuneration package includes superannuation, executive vehicle allowance and, where applicable, relocation expenses. The salary component for this position may be negotiated with the successful candidate. 

Engagement may be negotiated on an ongoing basis or for a specified term. To be eligible for engagement, an applicant must be, or intend to become, a permanent Australian citizen. This is a security-designated position. The successful applicant will be required to undergo security assessments to the appropriate level.
