First Assistant Director-General Engagement, Operations and Intelligence

 

As the First Assistant Director-General Engagement, Operations and Intelligence you will lead the ASD’s Engagement, Operations and Intelligence Division to deliver the ACSC’s vision to make Australia the safest place to connect online.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Head ACSC (a Deputy Director-General within ASD) to steer the division responsible for operational, intelligence and stakeholder engagement functions. The position is the lead interface with external stakeholders, domestically and internationally. It manages programs that shape the national cyber security ecosystem by understanding and acting on contemporary threats and opportunities, sharing information at speed and scale, and achieving behavioural change through communications and influence.

The role requires a demonstrated ability to build future organisational capability and anticipate and respond to external drivers which will impact ASD business. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience leading an externally-focused and operational workforce, and the sound judgment to manage competing requirements in an evolving strategic environment. A time of great change and increasing demand for cyber security services, the successful candidate will also have a strong delivery focus with the ability to effectively manage internal and external relationships and expectations of others to achieve outcomes.

The successful applicant will also have the demonstrated ability to operate in accordance with, and actively promote ASD’s values and the Defence Leadership Behaviours, which will continue to be adopted and implemented within ASD. You will be innovative, consultative, resilient and personally accountable for the quality of advice and the delivery of results.

Engagement may be negotiated on an ongoing basis or for a specified term. To be eligible for engagement, an applicant must be a permanent Australian citizen. This is a security-designated position. The successful applicant will be required to undergo security assessments to the highest level and must be able to be cleared to Top Secret Positive Vetting.
