About the Branch

Research Engineering (RE) provide professional and advanced engineering manufacturing to DST Group which enables the delivery of products, prototypes and models for research, development and experimentation. RE fuses talented professional engineering and technical staff with world’s best design software and cutting edge fabrication capabilities. Through design, fabrication and prototyping, RE facilitates the transition of applied research to industry for production of military capability.

The Role

The Program Leader – Research Engineering plays a critical role to drive a broad range of highly specialised and unique engineering and fabrication capabilities by providing the thought leadership, vision, guidance, direction and collaboration necessary to ensure that the RE capability can be most effectively harnessed to deliver for DST, Defence and National Security agencies.

This position will allow you to bring your diverse experiences to this multifaceted and dynamic work environment to:

  • Be the trusted advisor and thought leader with key defence stakeholders based on knowledge of Defence industry and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with Commonwealth Government agencies and industry too effectively and efficiently transition experimental technology to industry for commercialisation.
  • Forecast future engineering needs, initiate research and generate new knowledge to produce enhanced RE capability.

To be short-listed for this rare opportunity, you must meet the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering from an Australian institution, or a qualification gained elsewhere, that satisfies the requirements of the Washington Accord for recognition as a Professional Engineer
  • Eligible to become a Chartered Professional Engineer, Registered on the National Engineering Register and the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland
  • Australian citizenship
  • Have a Positive Vetting security clearance or the ability to obtain
