The Federal Government has released the final chapters of draft legislation that will shape the future biosecurity system for public comment until 24 October.

Federal Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Senator Joe Ludwig released the final chapters of the legislation, encouraging stakeholders to submit their comments.

“The release of the final chapters means the entire package of legislation is now publicly available and everyone interested has another month to have their say.

“Feedback on the draft legislation will play an important role in shaping the future of Australia’s biosecurity system and we’re making it as accessible as possible so industry and the community alike can put their views forward.”

The draft legislation is based around five key themes to improve and strengthen Australia’s biosecurity system: managing risk effectively, improving productivity, strengthening partnerships, increased transparency and sound administration.
