About the Role
This is a rare opportunity to lead the production and delivery of the ABC’s primetime live discussion television program, Q & A.
As Executive Producer, you will drive the editorial process and the production team to ensure Q & A represents the highest standards of journalism, reflects the broadest range of issues and concerns of interest to Australians and upholds the principles of independence, integrity, responsibility and accuracy.
Reporting to the Head of Investigative & In-Depth Journalism, you will:
- Provide direction to your production team to create innovative, distinctive and relevant programs in both metropolitan and regional centres.
- Oversee the editorial, creative and production management for the program and its digital content.
- Liaise with key stakeholders on editorial and programming issues as they arise and ensure adherence to editorial briefs.
- Manage resources, budgets and staff.
- Collaborate on Pan ABC productions.
About You
You will be a talented and highly experienced journalist with proven leadership skills, outstanding editorial judgement and experience in live television broadcasting. To be successful in this position, you will also have:
- A proven track record of building and leading a highly skilled, collaborative and motivated team.
- Superior knowledge of television production techniques.
- The ability to articulate and deliver strong creative program ideas and interesting panels that represent the full range of perspectives and engage with audiences.
- Extensive knowledge of politics, social issues and trends relevant to Australian audiences.
- The ability to oversee, develop and maintain the program's digital presence, including its website and engagement in social media and other interactive platforms.
