Information Management Officer (Philippines)

 

Can you help the government of the Philippines to deliver important information about environmental issues to the public? You will enhance information and management systems, educational resources, websites and other online communications tools.

This is a volunteer assignment under the Australian Volunteers for International Development (AVID) program, an Australian Government initiative. Airfares, living allowances, accommodation, insurance and other support is provided through the program.

The Environmental Management Bureau, under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, is responsible for pollution prevention and control, and environmental impact assessment.

The bureau wishes to strengthen its information management systems to improve the way it delivers important information about environmental issues and concerns to the public.

An AVID volunteer has been requested to help the staff team to enhance information and management systems, environmental education resources, the bureau’s website and other online communications tools. The volunteer will need to review current systems, consult with stakeholders, analyse and formulate recommendations, prepare information and management systems and train staff in their use.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated IT skills in database creation, web design and content management
  • Experience using social media and other online communication tools for public information and education campaigns
  • Qualifications in information management, information science, or information technology
  • Self awareness, cultural sensitivity, flexibility and adaptability, resilience

To be eligible, applicants must be 18 years and over, Australian citizens or permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens with Special Category Visas.
