The position

CSIRO is looking to appoint a Communication Advisor within its Data61 business unit. As a Communication Advisor you will use communications expertise and relevant domain knowledge to deliver communication activities for Data61, a leading R&D innovation partner that is central to Australia's science innovation agenda.

To ensure employees are kept informed, feel motivated and connected to CSIRO's purpose in order to attract and retain talent, you will oversee internal communication activities and contribute to campaigns to build Data61's reputation as a leading data science and technology brand.

Your duties will include

• Support the delivery of Data61 communication strategies and activities in a fast moving, multi-channel environment including social and rich media.
• Contribute to the implementation of Data61’s communication strategy, ensuring alignment with the broader Corporate Affairs strategy.
• Work collaboratively with the Corporate Affairs function, senior executives and internal partners to effectively build the desired culture and to ensure consistent messaging.
• Develop and manage key employee communications tools including intranet, newsletters, events and channels such as social media.
• Research, write and edit content for internal and external channels in a variety of formats.

Salary: AU$82k - AU$93k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be successful you will need

• A certificate or tertiary qualification and/or relevant work experience in a relevant area, such as communication, public relations, journalism, marketing, employee relations.
• Demonstrated creative and strategic thinking as well as a flexible, adaptive and responsive approach in the ever-changing media environment.
• Strong communication experience with a demonstrable track record in strategic communication and a passion for internal communication, employee engagement and stakeholder management.
• High level written and oral communication skills and the ability to adapt to relevant medium and audience
• The ability to build and maintain excellent collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders that help to achieve positive outcomes.
