CSIRO’s Data61 is seeking to appoint a Director of Data Standards Body - Group Leader.  Data61 brings together exceptional people from research and industry to work at the cutting edge of ICT, data analytics and artificial intelligence research. The Consumer Data Standards Group in Data61 does the work of the Data Standards Body and sits within the Software and Computational Systems Program at Data61.

The ideal candidate will provide strategic, compelling leadership for colleagues, be a compelling communicator and creative problem solver, confident delivering projects efficiently to tight deadlines with limited resources. You will liaise with the Data Standards Body Chair to deliver the Consumer Data Standards, helping them to resolve contentious and complex issues.

As the successful candidate you will have significant resource management and leadership abilities, with expert knowledge of stakeholder management, strategic planning, open standards, data management, privacy and security management and managing high stakes digital and IT projects and coordinating diverse stakeholders.

As Director of the Data Standards Body, you will have the opportunity to be involved or influence other Data61 research and development initiatives.

Your duties will include
  • Provide overall strategic and operational leadership regarding the development and delivery of the data standards and other materials, to rules and other requirements established by ACCC, OAIC, the Australian Treasury, and the Chair of the Data Standards Body.
  • Manage recruitment, resource allocation, performance management, and staff development for the Data Standards Body team, spanning a mix of both contractors and Data61 staff.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of programs of work across the data standards, information security and consumer experience work streams, while identifying issues and problems to be resolved.
  • Contribute to science impact planning, implementation and review for the Research Program with a focus on the Research Group.

Location:      Eveleigh NSW preferred. Other locations may be considered.
Salary:          Attractive Salary to be negotiated with the successful candidate

To be successful you will need
  • Significant experience planning and executing strategic programs of related projects and implementing results, particularly in digital and data areas.
  • Demonstrated ability seeking, managing and allocating resources across projects and leading diverse teams.
  • Significant experience in open standards, data standards, API implementation or other data-driven delivery projects.
  •  Deep conceptual and creative problem solving abilities, to meet a range of objectives.
  • The ability to lead and motivate multi-disciplinary, regionally dispersed teams, seeking feedback internally and externally and flexibly adjusting technical delivery as required to meet the needs of the Data Standards Body

The successful applicant may be required to obtain and provide a National Police Check or equivalent.
