The Opportunity

  • Get hands-on research experience at CSIRO’s Data61, the dedicated data and digital arm of Australia’s national science agency.
  • Access CSIRO's world-class facilities and work with our talented research science and engineering teams.
  • Apply for a CSIRO Vacation Studentship today!

Our Undergraduate Vacation Studentships are run over the Australian summer holidays and offer high achieving and promising undergraduate students the opportunity to collaborate with CSIRO researchers in our world class facilities.

You can take part in helping to solve complex research problems that will make a real difference to our future. At CSIRO’s Data61 we spark off each other, learn from each other, trust each other and collaborate in a supportive, rewarding and inclusive environment.

Participation in the Vacation Studentship Program has influenced previous students in their choice of further study and future career options. Many have gone on to pursue other student engagements with CSIRO including CSIRO supervised PhDs, Honours and undergraduate traineeships, or to build a successful research career within CSIRO, a university or industry. A Vacation Studentship opens a world of opportunity to engage in one of the many other student programs, such as our Postgraduate programs and scholarships, after completing a Vacation Studentship.

CSIRO’s Data61. is home to one of the largest collections of research and development expertise on artificial intelligence (AI) and data science in the world. Data61 is at the forefront of digital science and innovation. At CSIRO’s Data61 you can immerse yourself in an inclusive culture where a diversity of minds and views are welcomed.
