Executive Director, Environment, Energy & Minerals

  • Oversee four CSIRO business units – Land and Water, Oceans and Atmosphere, Mineral Resources, and Energy.
  • Lead 1400 researchers delivering science and technology solutions for government, industry and the Australian community.

As a member of CSIRO’s Executive Team, the Executive Director is a key advisor to the Chief Executive and contributes to shaping the future of Australia’s Premier Science organisation, providing national leadership across areas within the Environment, Energy and Resources Group.

Senior executive role with responsibility for approximately 2000 researchers, providing science and technology solutions that will enhance the value Australia derives from its vast energy and mineral resources while maintaining and enhancing the sustainability of our atmosphere, oceans and continent.

The Executive Director has a key role in fostering and growing major national and global relationships across Government, academia and industry as part of our strategy to be Australia’s Innovation Catalyst, ensuring optimal positioning, organisational alignment and science delivery in the national interest.

The Executive Director is a member of the  Executive Team, is responsible for shaping the strategic direction for CSIRO within the context of the Australian and global innovation system, to ensure CSIRO’s relevance, with particular oversight of the outcomes and impacts delivered through the four business units within the Environment, Energy and Resources Sectors.   

The Executive Director is the key advisor to the Chief Executive on all aspects of strategy and investment within the Sectors and has a prominent role managing strategic relationships, as a key representative to government and with senior executives in private sector partner organisations to ensure optimal positioning, organisational alignment and science delivery in the national interest.
