Online Learning Coordinator - I2S2

The Position

With the support of the BHP Billiton Foundation, the Indigenous STEM Education Project aims to increase the participation and achievement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

This is an exciting opportunity to join a national team to deliver the Inquiry for Indigenous Science Students (l2S2) element of the Indigenous STEM Project into schools. 

As the Online Learning Coordinator you will play a significant role working with teachers and Indigenous students in implementing student-centred inquiry-based STEM projects in schools and in nurturing and encouraging students’ interest in STEM.

Your duties will include:

  • Assisting in the adaptation of an online learning environment to further support and enhance teacher professional development.
  • Maintaining and updating content in the I2S2 program’s current online learning environment.
  • The delivery of new online content via the online learning environment and a new learning management system.
  • Working with teachers to facilitate the implementation of student-centred, inquiry-based STEM projects in an Indigenous context in schools and online.

Location: Negotiable
Salary: AU $80K to $91K plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: Specified Term of 1 year and 7 months

To be successful you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant area, such as education, science or information technology and/or relevant work experience. 
  • The ability to travel interstate and locally, as required.
  • A current driver's licence, as well as a valid Working with Children Check, or state based equivalent.
  • Experience working with or developing education programs or resources in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander context, including experience delivering professional development to teachers.
  • Experience working with online learning management systems and developing e-learning content.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies, cultures and the issues affecting these cultures in Australian society.
