Stores and Logistics Officer

The Position: 
The role of Stores and Logistics Officer will support a broad range of CSIRO operational functions focussed on stores, mail & freight, waste management, Fleet administration and logistical support to CSIRO Business and Infrastructure Services (CBIS).  This service provision may be to one or more sites.

Working closely with facilities staff from CBIS, the role involves managing day-to-day operations, participation in planning of activities for the team, using discipline expertise to anticipate needs, develop procedures, systems and advise on management decisions. 

Your will be required to:

  • Under the general direction of the CBIS Operations Manager, oversee the stores and logistics operations for the ACT region including management of the day-to-day Stores operations;
  • Provide administrative support in respect to the vehicle fleet, and being the site fleet contact ensuring that inspection, cleaning, repairs and servicing are undertaken by responsible parties as required. Also may include other fleet duties as directed;
  • As part of the CBIS facility support team, coordinate and/or assist with the delivery of logistic and site services such as waste management and other services ;
  • Develop and maintain stores operating procedures for safe efficient operation.
  • Undertake housekeeping and management of packaging waste.

Location: Black Mountain, ACT
Salary: $61k to $78k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be successful you will have:

  • Possession of, or the ability to quickly obtain, an appropriate licence/authority for the operation of pallet trolleys and forklifts and the possession of a current full motor vehicle driver’s licence.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the planning and management of a stores and logistics service including inventory control and stocktake in accordance with established procurement guidelines, policies and procedures;
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in the day-to-day operations of a store facility. Foster a collaborative work environment and encourage active participation by all team members.
  • Demonstrated keyboard and data entry skills and experience in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel & Outlook) and routine administration;
  • Ability to take initiative, develop and maintain operational procedures and work as a key team member and share relevant information with the broader CBIS team;
