The Position

CSIRO is seeking to appoint a Quantitative Fisheries Scientist.

As the successful candidate for this position, you will contribute to a range of studies. This will potentially involve using a variety of different quantitative and qualitative research methods. You will manage, synthesise and analyse large data sets, and work scientific databases used in the analysis of data from commercial fishing data.

Your duties/responsibilities will include:

  • Undertake research and analysis relevant to the management of Australian fisheries.
  • Build and maintain a network of clients and collaborators.
  • Interact with other CSIRO researchers in identifying research priorities and developing new project proposals. 

Location:      Hobart TAS
Salary:          AU$131K - AU$145K plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure:         Indefinite

To be successful you will need:

  • A doctorate or equivalent research experience in a relevant discipline area, such as fisheries, resource or environmental modelling, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and application of a range of quantitative modelling techniques.
  • A national and international reputation with demonstrated engagement with government and industry
  • The ability to work effectively as an integral member and leader of a multi-disciplinary, regionally dispersed research team, and foster an environment in which there is a high level of co-operation within and between teams.
