Strategy and Innovation Consultant

The Position:     

CSIRO Strategy Market Vision and Innovation team are seeking 2 consultants to deliver transformational change to teams across the business who are looking to solve wicked challenges. Collaborating with the Executive Manager, Market Vision, you will inform leaders of the most strategic markets for CSIRO’s applied science capabilities, and influence collaboration networks to catalyse the most innovative science which will deliver significant national and global benefit.

The position will be expected to meaningfully acquire, retrieve, organise, and analyse knowledge over a range of topics that enables CSIRO to deliver national benefit. Strategic planning will be required to identify where CSIRO’s competitive advantages can be leveraged into growing and emerging markets that lead to national benefit in a global market.

Your duties will include:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Manager, Market Vision to develop organisational strategy and cross business projects from data gathering to implementation.
  • Develop strategies that will lead CSIRO to consolidate and focus capability to ensure CSIRO remains relevant and produces impactful science in a competitive global marketplace.
  • Evaluate internal data sources to anticipate and plan for competitive advantage, providing contextual external data points for emerging and valuable markets.
  • Manage competing and potentially ambiguous priorities in changing client and market needs to promote successful impact of CSIRO’s strategy.  
  • Foster collaboration within Business units and across the organisation to foster new ideas and identify opportunities of value-added future impact.

Location:  North Ryde NSW preferred may consider other locations
Salary:     $109K to $128K plus up to 15.4% Superannuation
Tenure:    1 x 12 month and 1 x 6 month

To be considered you will have:

  • A bachelor Degree in a relevant area with demonstrated high academic achievements and 5+ years of relevant work experience and/or 3+ years of strategy consulting firm experience.
  • An ability to provide high level strategic analysis on existing operations, recognise opportunities, and provide high quality guidance in a complex organisation to ensure competitive advantage across a national and global market.
  • Proven ability to deliver results in an environment of high ambiguity and support multiple initiatives across a large complex organisation.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation and representational skills, including experience working across diverse teams and large organisations.
  • Strong consulting fundamentals including strategic problem solving, data analytics and excel modelling, structured written and visual communication
