The Position:
Postdoctoral Fellows are appointed for up to three years and will work closely with a leading Research Scientist or Engineer in their respective field. They carry out innovative, impactful research of strategic importance to CSIRO with the possibility of novel and important scientific outcomes. They present the findings in appropriate publications and at conferences.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will undertake both bioinformatics and molecular biology work as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team developing novel therapeutics and diagnostics to treat cancers with low survival rates. The research will utilise large genomics databases to identify 1) targets for the development of next generation nanotechnologies and 2) companion diagnostics for precision oncology. After target identification, the fellow will develop liquid biopsy diagnostic assays using modern clinical platforms such as NGS and droplet digital PCR.
A strong background in molecular biology/genomics is essential, as well as capability in bioinformatics, particularly in the use of R/Bioconductor and Python. The fellow will have formal support to expand their bioinformatics skillset as part of the CSIRO postdoctoral development program.
