Information Resources Librarian - Cataloguing and Metadata

The Information Resources Librarian is responsible for description and seamless access to information resources through the library catalogue and other repositories.  The position will ensure the accurate and timely cataloguing of new resources in all formats through the creation of bibliographic records and holdings.  The ongoing management of links and coverage of electronic and digital resources through library systems is a key part of this role.  A flexible approach and teamwork is essential to maintain services, as well as willingness to work across teams on various high priority activities from time to time. 

Your duties will include

  • Original and copy cataloguing as well as classification of resources predominantly in electronic and digital format accepting responsibility for meeting key performance indicators.
  • Maintain accurate coverage and linking of electronic resources.
  • Ensure quality control of records in the library’s online catalogue, including authority work.
  • Activate, reconcile and manage collections of electronic resources ensuring accuracy of data and linking.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues relating to discovery and access including description, linking and coverage.

Salary: AU $82k - AU $93k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be successful you will need

  • A degree in a relevant area such as Librarianship or Information Management and relevant experience in a large research or academic library.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).  Experience using a high-end library management system such as Alma.
  • The ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The ability and willingness to do some lifting as required in accordance with safe work practices.
  • The ability and willingness to travel to other CSIRO sites within Australia.
