The Position
As the Diagnostic Scientist, you will work in high biocontainment (BSL3) laboratories and contribute to the delivery of outputs across a range of quality assured laboratory diagnostic services. This will primarily involve performing routine diagnostic testing, approved research project activities, training and other associated laboratory housekeeping activities.
You will provide diagnostic training in overseas laboratories as required to meet the project objectives of AAHL’s international animal health reference laboratory responsibilities. Overseas work will only be undertaken once the required competency standards are met and may involve multiple trips of 1-2 weeks duration, potentially up to 4 weeks, in primarily Asia/Pacific countries.
This will enable the successful appointee to become multi-skilled in a range of scientific specialties and be well equipped to respond to urgent changes in diagnostic requirements during disease outbreaks.
This position may require travel up to 4 weeks at a time in Asia, potentially multiple times in any given year.

Salary: AU$83k – AU$94K + up to 15.4% superannuation
