The Finance team at CSIRO is currently looking for a Corporate Finance Advisor in their Cash Management team to provide day-to-day financial accounting advice and expertise in the management of CSIRO’s cash balances. 

In this role, you will achieve significant financial accounting outcomes and contribute to the delivery of accurate, quality financial accounting compliance through management of the general ledger reconciliation process for payments and receipts. You will have inputs to the delivery of value-add financial management and analytical advice and assist management with the delivery of their CSIRO business objectives through the development and management of a cash projection model and quality advice on cash management.

Your duties will include:
  • Providing day-to-day financial accounting advice and expertise in the management of CSIRO’s cash balances.
  • Managing the general ledger and trust account uploads for payments and receipts from subsidiary ledgers and external information sources, including full reconciliations. 
  • Assisting and supporting the development of CSIRO’s cash management strategy to optimise CSIRO's position through effective cash forecasting processes. 
  • Identifying and developing solutions to cash management issues and improve processes through liaison with business units and financial service providers and communicate findings and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Based on phased budget and year to date progress, developing/revising and providing forward estimates of cash balances.
  • Accurately and efficiently undertaking financial accounting activities with a strong focus on statutory compliance.

Location:Canberra, ACT
Salary: AU$83k to AU$94k pa (pro-rata for part-time) + up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

1.    A tertiary qualification in accounting or finance or relevant work experience in a financial environment.

2.    The ability to clearly convey information and ideas, adapted to others needs and priorities, and establish effective interpersonal relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to establish a high level of trust and respect.

3.    Demonstrated ability to identify and manage financial risk, provide mitigation strategies and where appropriate escalate to management.

4.    Demonstrated ability to identify and analyse complex or ill-defined problems and develop appropriate solutions.

5.    Demonstrated ability to ensure and oversee data integrity and compliance, proactive problem identification lead and execute appropriate responses to resolve issues. 

6.    Demonstrated ability to participate in ongoing knowledge transfer across the Financial Management team; proactively participate in business unit transaction teams, provide advice on options and prepare a business case based on the recommended option.

7.    Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, and direction for others in the team by coaching and supporting staff and fostering open communication and strong collaboration.

8.    Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve a high level of trust and respect to influence outcomes and communicate findings.
