Indigenous STEM Education Project Officer
Generation STEM is a $25 million ten-year initiative which works with industry, government and education sectors to support, train and retain students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) career pathways.
CSIRO Education and Outreach is seeking a motivated Education Project Officer to join the Indigenous STEM Education Team. In this diverse role, you will work with the Generation STEM team to develop a suite of Indigenous STEM programs for delivery in regional NSW based on our Indigenous STEM Education Project.
As the successful candidate, you will play a key role in program design and community engagement in the initial program development phase. In the delivery phase, you will provide guidance, assistance and support to program participants, including students and teachers, and be the main local contact point for program participants. Working as part of a team, you will also develop, facilitate and deliver a range of activities, workshops, and events to promote and support industry professionals, teachers and other stakeholders involved in the program. You will also recruit and liaise with partner organisations and support their participation in the program.
Your knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies, cultures and the issues affecting these cultures in Australia coupled with your project coordination and communication skills and ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders will be critical to your success in this role.
This position is identified – applicants will be required to provide a Cultural Referee as part of their application. The cultural referee will be asked to support your application in relation to your ability to work with Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people.
Location: Sydney – other locations in NSW will be considered
Salary: AU$85k - AU$96k plus up to 15.4% superannuation
