Executive Manager - Energy

As the Executive Manager, Business Unit Operations, your role is to support the Energy Business Unit (BU) Director in the professional management of the BU, oversight and optimal delivery of the project portfolio and development of its unique people, physical and financial resources.  You will assist with the day to day running of the BU through operational planning, formulation and delivery of the BU’s strategic plan, implementation plan, impact planning, as well as provision of specialist advice and coaching.

You will need to demonstrate high level skills and knowledge relevant to the energy domain and the ability to interact with customers and stakeholders at both operational and senior executive level. You will also have experience in the development and optimisation of processes and operations, with sound judgement, communication and organisation skills, and proven ability to influence team behaviour.

Your duties will include:

  • Functional leadership: operational & strategic planning, change management, high level advice and communication, and project management.
  • Capability leadership: manage & coach staff, facilitate & influence to achieve a high-performance & inclusive culture; support HSE initiatives.
  • Engagement and Partnerships: build & maintain effective internal & external relationships with other business units, support functions & stakeholders to enable service delivery and collaboration, represent CSIRO at forums.
  • Resource Leadership: oversee project portfolio, financial/budget management & forecasting, risk management and planning.
  • Coordination: ensure support structures are in place at all sites; plan events, meetings and conferences; prepare responses to information & reporting requests & reviews.
  • Compliance: coordinate governance & legislative requirements, oversee risk management framework for the BU

Location: Newcastle, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney or Perth
Salary: AU$136k – AU$150k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

  • Ability to understand and interpret CSIRO’s strategy, structure, operating model, governance and oversight mechanisms, and the key intersections and relationships across the organisation.
  • High level skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the energy science domain.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate widely both internally and externally and provide guidance to managers and staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of literacy and editing skills.
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing complex demands, establish or renegotiate priorities, and organise or re?assign tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent management/leadership experience is desirable.
