Your duties will include:

• Proposing, developing, applying and employing innovative theories, statistical tools and techniques for health data analytics projects in predictive modelling, clinical decision support, improving and informing productivity, safety and quality, and driving evidence-based healthcare.
• Developing methodology and/or adapting existing methods in novel and creative ways to meet the group's research objectives.
• Utilising various analytic and statistical methodologies to evaluate, select, interpret and validate data.
• Recording study results and interpret the findings in terms of their scientific significance.

Salary: AU$100k - AU$108k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

• A PhD (or an equivalent combination of qualifications and research experience) in a relevant field such as statistics or applied mathematics coupled with relevant postdoctoral or industrial experience.
• A history of solving real world scientific problems in the health domain.
• Demonstrated proficiency with programming languages/packages, such as R and Python, including the ability to programme new analyses, clean and structure data, and develop and validate appropriate models.
• Good communication skills with the ability to represent the research team effectively internally and externally, including the presentation of research outcomes at national and international conferences.
• The ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary, geographically dispersed research team, and carry out independent individual research, to achieve organisational goals.
• A history of undertaking original, creative and innovative research by generating and pursuing novel ideas and statistical solutions to scientific research problems.
• A publication history of authorship on scientific papers in peer reviewed journals and/or reports, grant applications or inventorship on patent applications.

Eligibility

To be eligible to work in CSIRO you must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or either hold, or be able to obtain, a valid working visa.

The successful applicant will be required to obtain and provide a National Police Check or equivalent. Additional integrity checks may be required for specific roles which require security clearance for working with children, Australian Government cybersecurity requirements or other identified security roles.
