CSIRO Postdoctoral Fellowship in Bio-Economics
CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Postdoctoral Fellowships provide opportunities to scientists and engineers who have completed their doctorate and have less than three years of relevant postdoctoral work experience. These fellowships aim to develop the next generation of future leaders of the innovation system.
CSIRO Agriculture and Food are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to work at the intersection between biology and economics. The Postdoctoral Fellow will lead and conduct original research to quantify the economic and environmental value of genes conferring resistance to plant diseases in crops and assign value to these key genetic resources. This will facilitate better stewardship of genetic resistance, in turn leading to improvements in resistance durability, reduced reliance on synthetic pesticides, reductions in the agricultural sector’s environmental footprint and increased profitability for producers.
This is a multidisciplinary project and scientists from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. We would particularly welcome candidates with a research interest in economic modelling of the impact of pest organisms on agro-ecosystems, and in the application of ecological and evolutionary principles to solving applied problems in agro-ecosystems. The Postdoctoral Fellowship position is within the dynamic CSIRO Agriculture and Food Biotic Interactions Team, part of the broader Systems Program. The Program delivers science that underpins the ongoing productivity and sustainability of Australia’s agricultural industry. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be located in Canberra.
Location: Canberra, ACT
Salary: AU$88k - AU$96k plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: Specified term of 3 years
