Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria.

Thomas Embling Hospital-  Forensicare is situated across five sites across Victoria with its largest site being Thomas Embling Hospital, located in Fairfield just 15 minutes north of the Melbourne CBD. Thomas Embling Hospital operates a 116 bed facility providing acute care, rehabilitation and continuing care services

About the role:

The Therapeutic Programs Clinical Leader will work in collaboration with the Director of Psychological Services, Assistant Clinical Director, Discipline Seniors and nominated program stream leaders to ensure that evidence based, contemporary therapeutic programs are delivered with consistency, to a high standard and that the programs are sustainable over the long term.  The position provides clinical leadership and oversees the development, delivery and evaluation of clinical programs at Thomas Embling Hospital.  The position also involves the direct delivery of programs and associated activities. 

The Therapeutic Programs Clinical Leader will provide expertise in the area of violence reduction programs and have the capacity to assist in the development of staff expertise in this area. 

 Duties:

  • Implementation of therapeutic  programs at Thomas Embling Hospital that is in line with international and national best practice guidelines
  • Provide leadership to, and support for the program streams in implementing sustainable programs
  • Facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of Violence Reduction Group Programs for a forensic mental health population based on international best practice principles
  • Coordinate a comprehensive evaluation program designed to ensure that therapeutic programs are of a high quality and are servicing patient needs

Skills and experience:

  • Approved degree in relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years post qualification experience within relevant Mental Health Services.
  • Demonstrated high level of expertise in the following areas: management and strategic development, program evaluation, research, communication and organisation skills and delivery of evidence based therapeutic programs.  
  • Expertise in the area of violence reduction programs and capacity to assist in the development of staff expertise in this area. 
  • Superior knowledge of contemporary principles and theories governing service delivery for a forensic mental health population in a secure setting
