Grants Officer

Randstad is inviting applications for a contract opportunity working as a Grants Officer with one of our federal government clients. We are recruiting for multiple vacancies to be based in Adelaide CBD.

In this role, the successful candidate in the delivery of associated programs, specifically services and grant programs offered by the department. Key responsibilities include the undertaking of grant application assessments, eligibility checks, and contract management.

Specific duties may include:

  • assessing eligibility and/or merit of applications for programme support, in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines, and justify recommendations with appropriate evidence
  • managing contracts and programme compliance in accordance with legislation and guidelines

The successful candidates will have:

  • strong communication skills with an ability to deal with customers, and understand the importance of responsiveness, succinct and clear messaging and confidentiality
  • an understanding of business and the community environment in terms of government’s support for economic or social growth, jobs growth and regional development
  • the ability to work within guidelines, governance and decision making processes and follow procedures
  • the ability to use IT and data management systems
  • experience assessing eligibility of applications or grants, including determining validity of claims being made, making decisions and drawing defensible conclusions
  • experience conducting merit criteria assessments including reviewing large and sometimes complex documents, conducting appropriate due diligence of claims being made, ranking applicants and writing succinct summaries of strengths, weaknesses, issues and risks
  • experience and/or ability to draft standard agreements, manage contracts, make payments and understands compliance.

Essential skills, experience and personal attributes includes:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Good judgement and strong analytical skills
  • Good IT and systems skills
  • Works well under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite of programmes (including Excel, Outlook and Word)

Desirable skills, experience and personal attributes includes:

  • Relevant qualifications e.g. accounting/finance, law, science or business
  • Knowledge of or experience in business
  • Prior experience in government program delivery
  • Financial analysis
  • Public presentation skills and experience
  • Advanced IT and data management skills, for example ability to write macros

Contract duration

  • Until 30 June 2020
  • 2 x up to 12 month extension options
