(APS6/EL1) Workplace Relations & Policy Advisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an  Workplace Relations & Policy Advisor. As a crucial member of our organisation, you will contribute to the coordination and management of our workplace and employment frameworks, policies, and programs, ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory, and public sector requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake and participate in the coordination and management of the department's workplace and employment frameworks, policies, and programs.
  • Provide high-level written work, including research, policy drafting, reports, and advice associated with the department's Enterprise Agreement and associated industrial framework.
  • Manage the Secretariat function for the department's Workplace Relations Group, including regular consultation and communication with Unions and employee representatives.
  • Undertake complex procedural, administrative, and service-related tasks in line with the department's employment and personnel management arrangements.
  • Plan and monitor work processes, participating in reform and redesign of work practices to effectively resource the functional responsibilities.
  • Support the implementation of change and promote continuous improvement activities within the team/Branch and across the organisation.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Australian citizenship or permanent resident status
  • APS experience

Key Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated experience with Commonwealth public sector enterprise employment frameworks.
  • Experience in providing high-quality advice on workplace relations and complex human resource matters.
  • Demonstrated experience in research, drafting, and consultation of people policy and workplace procedures documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to use discretion and sound judgment while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Tertiary qualifications or accreditation in industrial relations, employment law, human resource management, or business management are highly regarded.
