Your role

It takes a special kind of resourcefulness to join the Deep Elite, living and working with a close-knit team in the unique environment of a Collins Class submarine. But for many Submariners, there's no place they'd rather work.

In the role of Supply Chain Submariner you'll be responsible for the requisitioning, purchasing, receipt, storage, issue, return and stock control of all stores items.

You will perform a range of warehouse management duties that include:

  • issuing of equipment, machinery, electronic spares, medical stores, tools, safety clothing, bedding, furniture, office equipment and general domestic/hardware items
  • maintenance of stock control and account balances on computer inventory management systems
  • packaging and dispatch, preservation and stowage of different stores items
  • stocktaking duties
  • clerical duties, such as data entry
  • general storeroom duties, e.g. security, stores delivery and general maintenance, and
  • financial accounting of inventory.

Whilst serving on a submarine you will enjoy the variety of multitasking, assisting with a host of general seamanship duties including:

  • medical emergency team duty
  • joining stores parties
  • joining boarding parties
  • whole ship duties including helming, and
  • ceremonial duties.

Salary

  • Fully-paid trade training
  • Once trained, earn over $60,000 p.a. plus Super

Location

  • Generally based at HMAS Stirling near Perth
  • Some of your time will be spent at sea

Entry Requirements

  • At least 17 years of age
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Year 10 completion with passes in English and Mathematics (Science also desirable)
