Your role

Deep beneath the ocean's surface there has been an accident on your submarine. A number of crew members have been injured and the nearest hospital is hundreds of kilometres away. Thanks to extensive training you're able to provide your mates with immediate life-saving medical care.

This is no ordinary emergency services role, and a submarine is no ordinary workplace.

It takes a special kind of resourcefulness to join the Deep Elite, living and working with a close-knit team in the unique environment of a Collins Class submarine. But the rewards are many and varied and the onboard camaraderie is like no other.

As a Medic Submariner your main responsibility will be the provision of healthcare to support and maintain the health and well-being of fellow crewmembers. You may also be called upon to help civilian communities in need.

You don't need any experience to apply for this role as full training is provided by expert medical personnel. The skills you acquire will enable you to carry out:

  • advanced first aid
  • pre-hospital emergency care
  • advanced life support
  • evacuation services
  • in-patient healthcare, and
  • nursing care for the sick and wounded.

You will be trained to provide these services in a variety of situations and environments, working independently and effectively under a range of conditions including at sea.

Given the limited crew size on submarines, you will also gain the skills and knowledge to multitask on your vessel and react in the shortest possible time to incidents as they occur. This means you will perform duties such as:

  • surface lookout
  • helmsman, and
  • first response fire fighter.

If you love helping people and have the strength of character to remain calm under extreme pressure, this could be a great job for you. Better still, you’ll be working for a dynamic organisation that offers a unique lifestyle plus opportunities you simply won’t find anywhere else.

Sounds good? Then apply now (below).

Salary

  • Fully-paid medical training
  • Once trained, earn over $66,000 p.a. plus Super

  • Year 11 Chemistry also highly desirable

If you do not have the required passes you may be eligible to sit an Alternative Education Equivalency assessment. Medical and fitness guidelines also apply.
