Chiefs of Division Grade 2 - [Archived Advertisement]

The Department of Defence is seeking to fill two senior executive Chief of Division Grade 2 positions within the Defence Science and Technology Group (DST Group):

• Chief Cyber and Electronic Warfare Division, South Australia
• Chief National Security and Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance Division,  South Australia

These positions provide leadership and vision to shape the future scientific research direction and client programs in their respective divisions.

We are looking for people who are:

• Natural collaborative leader
• National and international leader in scientific research
• Effective change agent and strong communicator
• High level security clearance

The successful applicants will be responsible for leading and strategically managing the cyber and electronic warfare or intelligence and national security capabilities provided through 250-300 scientists, engineers, technicians and enabling staff dedicated to delivering outcomes to Defence.

As a member of Defence and DST Group’s Senior Leadership Group, the successful applicants will be responsible for achieving outcomes in a multi-discipline, complex and changing environment.

To be a strong contender for the role, you will be an outstanding leader with a strong track record in a relevant science and technology discipline, have demonstrated and well-developed abilities to negotiate outcomes in contested spaces and to build strong relationships with Defence clients and national and international science partners, exercise astute judgement and political awareness, and an ability to influence and engender enthusiasm in others.

You will be a flexible and collaborative leader who is prepared to take calculated risks and practices inclusive leadership that represents a diversity of ideas and perspectives. You will have excellent interpersonal and representational skills, and a proactive approach to professional and organisational development.

The remuneration package includes superannuation, executive vehicle allowance and, where applicable, relocation expenses. The salary component for these positions may be negotiated with the successful candidates within the Chief of Division Grade 2 range.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo high level security assessments and must be an Australian Citizen.
