The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) works in partnership with 14 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

Across Australia, AHPRA regulates 14 health professions in the interest of the public. We work in partnership with National Boards to ensure that only suitably trained and qualified practitioners are registered. We also investigate concerns raised about practitioners to ensure standards of professional practice are met.

As an Investigations Officer, you will help to manage notifications made about health practitioner's health, conduct and performance.

SOME KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
1. Plan and conduct notification assessments and investigations;
2. Request, obtain and analyse relevant notification information;
3. Interview parties and draft witness statements;
4. Document evidence and prepare reports and recommendations in line with the National Law;
5. Maintain communication with notifiers, practitioners and other relevant parties, ensuring a high standards of customer service;
6. Ensure the national database is updated throughout the notifications process.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Relevant tertiary qualification (i.e. Lawyer or a Health Practitioner within Nursing, Medical or similar field);
• Knowledge and experience in the conduct of investigations or case management;
• Strong written skills including experience in writing reports and recommendations;
• Ability to apply legislation, policies and procedures in a regulatory environment;
• Well developed interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to build productive working relationships;
• Excellent organisational skills including the ability to prioritise, multi-task, meet deadlines while having strong attention to detail.
