Branch Manager - Enterprise Architecture and Governance

Applications are invited from suitably qualified people who are interested in an appointment to the AFP.

The mission of the AFP is to provide dynamic and effective law enforcement to the people of Australia. It provides policing throughout Australia in relation to the prevention and detection of crimes against the Commonwealth, its laws and integrity, and community police services to the Community of the ACT.

As the Branch Manager, Enterprise Architecture and Governance, you will report directly to one of the organisation’s National Managers, the Chief Information Officer. You will be expected to direct and lead the Enterprise Architecture & Governance branch within the Operational Technology & Information portfolio (OT&I). As a member of the AFP’s senior leadership group, you will contribute to shaping our organisational direction, strategies and policies.

Your duties will include:

  • Driving the AFP Technology direction with relevant counter parts in the portfolio as well as in the Business with a continuous view of the changing technology landscape,
  • Alignment of technology investments with organisational Capability priorities,
  • Delivering & Maintaining high level technology roadmaps in conjunction with the Portfolio of programs delivering capability & benefit to the organisation,
  • Champion Architecture methodology (based on TOGAF v9.1), notation (based on Archimate v 3.1) and modelling tools & standards (using EA Sparx)
  • Oversight of the Architecture Community of Practice,
  • Stewardship of key Governance forums, namely,
  • The enterprise Design Authority – The forum where all Solution & Architecture Designs get approved,
  • Procurement Approval forum  - the forum where agreement is reached on procurement activity in support of the Architectural & solution designs
  • Management and tracking of the Fixed Supplier budget, ie services, software, hardware sustainment funding,
  • Tracking and Management of vendor contracts & relationships as well as provision of Procurement advice,

In addition to the above, the Branch Manager, Enterprise Architecture and Governance, is responsible for building and maintaining productive working relationships with external stakeholders, including:

  • Commonwealth agencies in the National Security space,
  • Other Policing jurisdictions across Australia,
  • International partners in the field of Law Enforcement.

Desirable requirements, skills or experience:

  • Ability to tie all aspects of the technology footprint of the AFP to the business operations of the organisation is essential.

Eligibility:

  • To be eligible you must be an Australian Citizen.
  • This position requires the successful candidate to obtain a Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance.
  • Relevant IT qualifications      and background with experience across the Architecture domain (Business, Data, Application and Technology) with knowledge in all these areas but specific specialty in at least one.

  • National or International travel may be required.
