The Agency

The Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) is the government agency responsible for providing improved and equitable financial outcomes for consumers, business and the community through application of bankruptcy and personal property securities laws, regulation of personal insolvency practitioners, and trustee services.

The Role

The IT Security Officer will play a pivotal role to protect AFSA and the Australian community from cyber security risks through the analysis of external threats and trends. This leads to the development of policies and plans, in turn aiding in the continual assessment of risk, resulting in enhancements to AFSA’s security compliance.

You will manage diverse activities, including the accreditation of AFSA’s ICT systems in accordance with the Australian Signals Directorate’s Information Security Manual (ISM).  You will collaborate with key stakeholders to conduct vulnerability assessments. You will actively assist with the development and delivery of ICT security awareness training and communications.

About You

To be successful in the role you will be an effective operator and adopt a risk-based approach to ICT security matters. You will have an ability to achieve results in an environment of collaboration and change. Your analytical and communication skills will see you engage effectively with diverse stakeholders to succeed in this role.

Experience and desirable qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of and exposure to cyber security activities
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting technical documentation
  • Desirable Qualifications – Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), SANS specific security training
