Are you interested in delivering cyber security operations to detect, prevent and disrupt cyber-enabled threats? Can you put yourself in the shoes of a hacker, or do you see yourself on the other side, defending Australia from cyber threats?

The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is a vital member of Australia’s national intelligence community. As a cyber specialist, you will be provided with a unique opportunity to undertake challenging and rewarding work that contributes to maintaining Australia’s national security. Our mission is to ‘Reveal Their Secrets - Protect Our Own’, and that’s exactly what you’ll do. As a cyber specialist - defensive or offensive technologist, you will either:

  • Conduct operations to disrupt, deny or degrade the computer networks of adversaries, including offshore cyber criminals, and to support military operations. Working under ASD’s legal oversight, you will be given a ‘license to hack’; or
  • Develop and maintain systems to actively monitor and defend the Australian economy and systems of national significance from adversaries. You will help contribute to building Australia’s cyber security resilience by protecting critical assets and information.

ASD cyber specialists work across the full spectrum of operations required of contemporary signals intelligence and security agencies. These may include high-impact offensive cyber operations to support a range of Australian Government priorities including military operations, law enforcement, criminal intelligence activity against cyber criminals and responding to serious cyber incidents against Australian networks.

ASD will mentor, develop and train you to be amongst the best. You will work in multidisciplinary teams and learn to use our specialised systems. We will support you with on the job training, and you will attend relevant industry courses and conferences to develop your skills. ASD will help you build strong foundations for a diverse and rewarding career.
