Technology Refresh Program - Project Manager

THE ROLE

Business Solutions and Technology (BS&T) are responsible for all software related business analysis, business solutions, software development, telephony, IT services and infrastructure. We deliver business as usual activities and innovation driven initiatives that provide efficiencies to the broader organisation. As a Technology Refresh Program Project Manager, you will report to the Director, Technology Refresh Program

DHA is undertaking a significant Technology Refresh program with a focus on ensuring fit for purpose technology across all business areas. In this role, you will apply your extensive experience in business transformation and software implementation to deliver these initiatives including Customer Relationship Management (CRM) implementation, Enterprise Asset Management product enhancement, Data initiatives and a suite of projects supporting digital workplace and cyber security.

Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will take a leading role in managing issues and providing strategic advice relating specifically to key projects, enabling technical capabilities to be leveraged and scaled as the business evolves. You will communicate effectively and negotiate with stakeholders to agree on scope boundaries, schedules, quality and budgets. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing project documentation, report on progress, oversee procurements, manage contracts and manage budgets as they relate to project delivery.

To be successful in this role, you will be able to bring the team and business stakeholders on the transformation journey. Your broad experience managing various business transformation and software implementation projects will be complimented by your ability to collaborate and problem-solve. In addition, you will be able to identify and manage risks in change management and implementation.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience managing complex IT business transformation and software implementation projects.
  • Extensive experience managing change including release and deployment, risk identification and mitigation.
  • A strong ability to manage priorities, organise workloads and meet challenging deadlines under limited direction.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and management skills including the ability to effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders both verbally and written.
  • Experience evaluating risk in the context of a complex and changing environment and experience dealing with a range of complex and/or contentious matters.
  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills, including work prioritisation, dealing with competing requirements/workloads, and maintaining a customer focus.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills based on sound judgement, expertise and knowledge.

OPERATING ENVIRONMENT

This is a full-time position. DHA’s core business hours are between 8.30am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. DHA operates under flexible working hours and staff may be required to work outside core business hours at times.

Note: This position is non-ongoing for 12 months with the option to extend for an additional 24 months.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Operates under general direction to lead software implementation projects as part of the Technology Refresh Program and ensure early viability of critical path issues.  Duties include overseeing testing activities and quality assurance processes to ensure business requirements are being met.
  • Proactively manage the engagement, representation and involvement of all relevantDHAinternal stakeholders, to ensure Refresh initiatives and project implementation plans meet customer needs.  This includes the refinement of business and technical requirements for Request for Tender (RFT) and Statement of Works (SOW) documentation and training.
  • Project management accountability for all aspects of the project including continuous monitoring and reporting on all project deliverables, ensuring project objectives are met, project risks are identified and mitigated and demonstrating return on investment.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the project budgets and resources and promote a project team environment and culture to maximise efficiency and effectiveness focussed on project deliverables.
  • Determine strategic direction for the work area and set priorities to ensure quality of outputs. Lead staff directly involved in establishing business line improvement to deliver optimum productivity and efficiency.
