The Defence Science Partnerships (DSP) is a framework under which Defence contracts the Australian university sector for research activities under single set of agreements. DSP comprises pre-negotiated terms and conditions, set costing rates and intellectual property provisions. The Defence Science Partnerships Manager is responsible for:

  • Operational management  of the DSP, associated reviews and continuous improvement ;
  • Leveraging the DSP to strengthen university partnerships, build knowledge and create pathways with industry;
  • Work collaboratively with academia, publicly funded research agencies, and Australian industry to create a vibrant and interlocking innovation capability using collaboration networks;
  • DSP framework enhancements to align with  current objectives and DST’s intellectual property policy;
  • Develop university engagement policy with particular focus on intellectual property and security issues;
  • Contributing to the development of a database of university research capability;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with DSP universities, and manage meeting schedules and associated actions and outcomes;
  • Provide support to Science Partnerships and Engagement Division staff; and
  • Liaison with Defence Legal regarding contract negotiations, improvements and assisting with the development of new templates.
