Have you ever been up close to an F/A-18 Hornet, Boeing E-7A Wedgetail or a cargo version of the classic B747-400. 

An Aircraft Refueller works as part of a small team to deliver aviation turbine fuel to a wide variety of ADF and other aircraft. The role provides direct support to some of Australia's most technologically advanced warplanes. On a daily basis you will be contributing to the raise, train and sustain tasks needed to keep our fighter pilots at the very peak of skill and readiness. 

RAAF Base Williamtown is centrally located between Maitland, Newcastle and Nelson Bay with a number of on base dining options. You will succeed in this role if you are: 

  • a team player who is able to work equally as well solo 
  • proficient at basic computing 
  • passionate about the work you do within the transport industry 
  • enjoy engaging with a broad cross section of people 
  • enjoy the flexibility that shift work offers 
  • comfortable using a radio for communication 
  • value a strong safety culture including wearing applicable PPE 


Successful applicants will enjoy the excitement of working at an operational Air Force Base. Under Joint Project 157 the aviation refuelling capability is receiving brand new heavy and medium tankers. These vehicles feature the latest technology to support their driver to accomplish the mission. 

Current HC, HR and MR licences are essential to this job, together with a clean driving record for the last five years which can be verified through your RMS driver history printout. A bulk Dangerous Goods licence will be favourably considered. 

This role will require the completion of a number of Defence funded courses and the attainment of a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance during the probation period. 

This is a non-ongoing vacancy for 24 months.
