The Electronic Fabrication Specialist (EFAB) reports to the Senior Electronics Engineer and is accountable under limited guidance for planning, supervising and coordinating the activities of technical staff to perform and achieve complex electronic engineering outcomes. You will engage with stakeholders both internal and external, and negotiate the use of technical facilities to achieve Defence business outcomes.

The EFAB will lead operational projects and will be accountable for the outcome of the teams work and the resources required to produce and achieve the desired outcomes. As the successful candidate you will demonstrate effective team building capabilities including the ability to provide team members with the appropriate coaching and feedback whilst reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken.

The Senior Electronic Fabrication Specialist will contribute and provide oversight to their domain of expertise, with the following key responsibilities:

  • Plan and monitor EFAB project portfolio, engaging with key stakeholders to undertake direct client liaison and prioritise work entry for EFAB activities
  • Supervise and manage EFAB staff, contractors and apprentices
  • Promote effective working relationships between SES work sections and represent EFAB to management
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Work Health and Safety Legislation and Quality Management Systems
  • Develop a sustainable future workforce plan whilst leading all recruitment activities
  • Prepare, develop and maintain a capability development plan for the laboratories under your supervision including the newly established surface mount assembly lines facility
  • Exercise financial responsibilities and manage the budge
  • Manage SES facilities and capabilities to accommodate Defence’s future and emerging requirements.
