The Joint and Operations Analysis Division is seeking to fill the role of S&T6 Discipline Leader, Current Operations Analysis within the Joint Warfare & Operations branch. The Discipline Leader Current Operations Analysis works according to broad direction from the Group Leader Theatre Operations Analysis (TOA) and consults with the TOA Leadership Team and TOA staff to provide leadership of a team of scientists, engineers and technicians.

They are responsible for the leadership and development of the Current Operations Analysis Discipline. They will build and maintain a strong team culture. Clearly articulate goals. Define and negotiate appropriate work packages. They are responsible for supporting a culture of scientific excellence, including by setting appropriate standards for the quality of the work, matching it to client needs and ensuring advice is delivered in a timely manner.

They strategically shape the discipline to be responsive and enduring in the provision of research and analysis in support of current operations. They appreciate strategic priorities, Defence context and possess an ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders. They are responsible for developing and maintaining internal and external (industry, international, academic) collaborative relationships that support the conduct of research and the provision of S&T support and advice.

They are responsible for providing effective and efficient S&T analysis and advice in support of current operations. This requires a significant depth of knowledge in the application of advanced operations analysis and analytical techniques to support decision making in deployed and deployable operational and theatre headquarters. The role requires demonstrable proficiencies in scientific leadership in accordance with One Defence Leadership Behaviours.
