The Australian Government is laying the foundations for a nationwide naval shipbuilding enterprise to support the implementation of the Naval Shipbuilding Plan. Future Submarine Program (FSP), Australia’s largest Defence program, has taken on the challenge to deliver to the Royal Australian Navy a regionally superior, sovereign submarine capability.  Submarines are a unique Defence capability and play an essential role in supporting Australia’s maritime security, and your work within the program, by engaging with Navy and Industry suppliers, will ensure that Navy has an enduring and potent submarine capability for generations to come.

What we are looking for:

Future Submarine Program is looking for a highly motivated Cyber Security Specialist, the successful applicant will be required to undertake training, for a six month period at the ACSC headquarters in Canberra within the Protect and Assure Division’s National Security team. At the completion of the six month training, the successful applicant will take up the position fulltime at our Future Submarine Program Office situated in Dudley Park, Adelaide South Australia as the ACSC National Security, FSP certification and accreditation team.

Your technical and systems certification knowledge will be used to provide guidance to the FSP program and assist in the coordination of certification and accreditation activities across ACSC, Defence and the Prime Industry contractors. High level written and verbal communications skills will be used to provide certification reports to ACSC National Security and provide certification status updates via presentations to all accreditation stakeholders.

As the Cyber Security Specialist you will be required to undertake:

  • Assist and provide guide to the development of the FSP’s cyber security management doctrine and the develop processes with prime contractors and Defence authorities, including CASG, CIOG and Cyber Worthiness;
  • Undertake threat modelling, scoping activities and cyber security risk assessments in accordance with ISM, ACSI and PSPF standards as directed;
  • Assist with assessing and make recommendations to ACSC National Security for determination by SME’s involving remediation treatments in the fields of EMSEC and COMSEC, and industrial control systems (ICS/SCADA);
  • Assist with the development of assessment briefs, presentations and reports on the FSP for senior decision makers to ensure cyber security accreditation meets the capabilities authority to operate;
  • Represent ACSC PAE National Security across each of the Defence security certification stakeholders to ensure the certification and accreditation process is applied in a consistent and coordinated fashion.
