The Role:

The Technical Director will have the opportunity to apply their skills to a highly exciting portfolio of work while leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers and maintaining all engineering responsibility for either the ISREW Maritime Sensors or Decoys program. Both of these programs deliver cutting edge technologies to the Royal Australian surface and sub-surface fleets.

The ISREW Maritime Sensors program is delivering a number of projects to the RAN, including delivering a modernised enhanced electronic warfare capability via project SEA 555 Phase 7 – Balefire.

The ISREW Maritime Decoys program is delivering a number of projects to the surface fleet including the next generation of the Nulka anti-missile decoy via project SEA 1397 Phase 6 - Enhanced Nulka.

About the Team:

Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Electronic Warfare (ISREW) Branch, in JSD acquires, sustains and integrates electronic warfare capabilities into a wide variety of air, land and sea based platforms and systems.

Our Ideal Candidate:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Skills and experience in Defence systems engineering, ideally with insight into electronic warfare systems.
  • Effective problem solving and deductive reasoning skills.
  • An ability to manage a diverse team on complex projects.
  • The capacity to think strategically and develop plans and processes to enhance the achievement of business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and customer engagement skills.
  • High level organisational skills, self-drive and initiative with the ability to influence others to achieve tasks and business objectives.
  • Sound commercial and business acumen and a demonstrated understanding of the Defence Industry sector in Australia.

The successful candidates will be required to undergo a Positive Vetting security clearance. Some of the successful candidates may be able to commence a role with a Negative Vetting 2 clearance however, failure to attain the Positive Vetting security clearance may necessitate a role change. All candidates that are invited to interview will be required to explain their understanding of the Positive Vetting Security Clearance process.
