The Role
The APS5 Technician Marine role within the Hydrographic SPO is to provide technical marine knowledge and advice, engaging with stakeholders to deliver and exercise appropriate technical delegations in line with relevant legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks. Investigate, report and perform technical marine assessments that support Defence materiel capability life cycle. They are accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve moderately complex technical marine work within an integrated workforce, predominately on small to medium sized Army watercraft.

The APS5 Technician Marine will be accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will interpret and provide advice within the marine sub-function based on legislation, policy and procedures. They will undertake specialist, technical research and analysis conduct reviews, assessment, and investigations and perform procedural or operational support work to achieve results.

  • Assess technical packages, reports, processes and equipment performance to meet specified requirements, provide recommendations for improvement; and
  • Ensure safety aspects of Defence capability are considered/incorporated into marine technical activities and tasks.
