The Role
The APS 6 Practice Manager is an integral part of the Health Centre Team. This role requires a highly motivated and dynamic individual that is outcome focused and is responsible for the delivery of safe and effective health services to eligible personnel and entitled civilians within the Australian Defence Force. The Practice Manager assists the Health Centre Manager with the management of the provision of Garrison Health Services which range from general practice right through to inpatient care.

If you have a background in health and are keen to expand your leadership and management experience and you have an ability to problem solve, communicate effectively and display initiative, this may be a position for you. You will be required to comply with Joint Health Command clinical governance framework and participate in the development, implementation, maintenance and improvement of the day to day running of Health Centre.

About our Team
Joint Health Unit–South Queensland is an exciting work environment, with opportunity to provide innovation to enable delivery of military medicine and joint healthcare services to the Australian Defence Force. Enoggera Health Centre currently provides garrison health services, to a combined dependency in excess of 100 ADF units permanently based within South East Queensland with an annual regional dependency of approximately 7,000 personnel.
Within Enoggera Health Centre, the APS 6 Practice Manager position supports a workforce that includes Australian Public Service and contracted administrative staff, Australian Defence Force members and contracted health professionals.

With a team focused approach together with the Health Centre Manager, the Practice Manager is integral in the management of this complex workforce. The team itself has a responsibility in ensuring the Australian Defence Force members maintain medical and dental fitness standards and play an integral role in ensuring the operational effectiveness of these individuals is maintained.

To be successful in this role you will have the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team, and comply with procedures, policy, legislation and regulatory frameworks. You will be able to apply and build professional expertise while taking responsibility for managing work to achieve results. You must demonstrate the ability to independently get the most out of clinicians and support staff to achieve key deliverables in regards to the health care delivery for members of the Australian Defence Force.

You will effectively and efficiently manage resources in areas of workforce, equipment and stores, facility maintenance and finance. With your strong background in clinical leadership and management you will possess strong oral and written communication skills, being able to communicate on all levels of the organisation and externally with all personnel. The successful candidate will bring their past experience to lead, provide coaching and on-the-job training for newer and less experienced team members.
