The Role
In this role will contribute to the development of simulations and support the analysis of simulation results to derive insights on appropriate future ADF structure and concepts. The role will involve developing and validating representations of military platforms and systems in simulation. The successful candidate will be expected to apply or develop tools to support exploratory data analysis or visualisation of simulation outputs. The discipline uses a mix of commercial and government-off-the-shelf tools, including some relying on software development skills.

About our Team
We are a small team comprising a manager, a lead analyst and two analysts who focus on advancing the development of simulations. The team’s primary responsibility is in supporting force design, with the emphasis on leveraging simulation to generate evidence to support decisions on force options and consideration of concepts. Apart from supporting the Defence client, the team has also been engaging in future focused strategic research. Our support to the Disruptive Weapons Effect (DWE) STaR Shot has involved developing simulations to determine the effectiveness of future technologies and capabilities being advanced in the DWE STaR Shot.

Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have one or more mandatory qualifications and possess one or more desirable qualifications. They will be capable of structuring (often abstractly defined) problems into realised instantiations in simulation. Experience in applying statistical and algorithmic techniques to undertake for example, force options testing, sensitivity (factor) analysis and optimisation would be advantageous. Expertise in inferential statistics to support hypothesis testing and applying designs of simulation experiments is highly desirable.
