Introduction
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) plays a critical role in enabling Defence’s military and business operations. The Chief Information Officer Group oversees around $2 billion ICT expenditure per annum and the Australian Government is investing over $5 billion in new ICT capabilities over the coming decade.

Position 1: Assistant Secretary Enterprise Technology Operations (ASETO) – Expected vacancy

Security Level: Negative Vetting 1
Division: ICT Operations

ICT Operations Division (ICTOD) is responsible for the integration, operation, management and security of Defence's global strategic communications capability that enable military operations and support Defence business. ICTOD is also responsible at the strategic level to the Chief of Defence Force and Chief of Joint Operations for advice and technical control for the Command, Control, Communications and Cyber security in support of ADF Operations.

This role is accountable for the sustainment, reliability and availability of Information Communications Technology (ICT) Platforms, Applications and Software within the Single Information Environment (SIE). AS ETO is responsible for managing workforce and resources necessary to ensure the SIE is meeting operational and business requirements and is aligned with Defence’s strategic priorities.

The role is accountable to Business Owners for the sustainment and management of the SIE in accordance with agreed service levels and standards. The role is also responsible for the efficient and timely acceptance into service of all new ICT Services to the SIE including major programs such as Enterprise Resource Planning as well as minor enhancements to existing capabilities. Additionally the role is accountable for the achievement of performance KPIs and management of Service Providers to required SLAs.

Position 2: Assistant Secretary Corporate & Logistics Delivery (ASCLD)
Security Level: Negative Vetting 2
Division: ICT Delivery

ICT Delivery Division (ICTDD) is responsible for delivering ICT capability enhancements and services for Defence capability managers and for Australian Government Departments and Agencies, either as discrete projects and activities or contributing to broader programs and projects.

In this role, as Assistant Secretary ICT Corporate and Logistics Delivery you will manage the delivery of a range of ICT projects and programs including minor corporate ICT upgrade solutions. This will entail taking oversight and accountability for delivery through meeting required milestones, budget and capability requirements.

To be a strong contender for this role, you will need to be an outstanding leader with the ability to direct and manage a significant ICT remit. Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, with experience in complex and large scale ICT environments, capacity to deliver innovative solutions and problem-solve, and have a well-developed ability to build stakeholder rapport and lead an integrated and geographically dispersed workforce.

Position 3: Assistant Secretary ICT Governance and Transformation (ASICTG&T)
Security Level: Negative Vetting 1
Division: ICT Service Delivery and Reform

ICT Service Delivery and Reform Division (ICTSDRD) is responsible for managing the group business operations and to work cross functionally to align processes and performance, champion reform and continuous improvement, and support integrated service delivery. The ICTSDRD comprises of the Group central functions that enable control, consistency and coordination over the operations of CIOG business, providing the support necessary to drive the change associated with the reform program.

In this role, you will manage the ICT business functions in CIOG, inclusive of leading the achievement of the Group wide transformation as part of the Defence Transformation Strategy. The Defence Transformation Strategy outlines how Defence will lead the way and create a high-performing One Defence enterprise with a continuous improvement culture.

The ICT Transformation Program is a multi-year program that will significantly uplift Defence ICT capability and performance as a critical enabler of the Defence mission. Your role also involves close engagement with the Defence Transformation Office, with stakeholders across Defence and more widely across other government agencies and industry.

Achieving the necessary outcomes of this role requires the provision of senior leadership oversight and coordination of Group performance against the transformation and continuous improvement outcomes, ICT prioritisation and governance, enterprise ICT risk management and to facilitate all internal and external assurance activities, including interaction across Defence, central agencies and the ANAO. You will also be accountable for strategic ICT workforce planning, strategic communications and engagement, and ICT performance and reporting.
