Introduction
The Australian Government is investing over $100 billion out to the 2060s in a sovereign Naval Shipbuilding & Sustainment Enterprise, the largest capital investment ever undertaken in Australia’s history.

Working in partnership with the Royal Australian Navy, the Naval Shipbuilding & Sustainment Enterprise within Defence is the dedicated delivery agent for maritime capability and the Australian Government’s policy lead supporting national shipbuilding industry and workforce.

Your Role
We are seeking to fill a number of roles at the SES Band 1 level in the Naval Shipbuilding & Sustainment Enterprise within Defence. You will be a strategic thinker with significant leadership and management ability, you will possess strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability as a persuasive leader. To be successful you will exemplify the Defence Values and Behaviors and engender a culture of innovation, collaboration and agility. You will be self-aware, considerate and respecting of a diversity of ideas and perspectives of others.

There are a range of responsibilities across these roles. Candidates are invited to consider their credentials against some or all of these areas of responsibility:

  • providing policy, strategic planning, and capability advice to Ministers, Secretary of Defence, Chief of the Defence Force, and senior staff;
  • providing superior leadership and management of a Branch to build an organisational culture where leadership, professionalism, collaboration and corporate behaviour in support of One Defence are valued and rewarded;
  • delivering required outcomes for Government through effective management of resources and employing broad commercial acumen and complex project management skills; and
  • maintaining effective working relationships both inside and outside the organisation, including with Defence Industry, and with international counterparts.

Relevant experience in the broader shipbuilding domain would be an advantage.

Engagement may be negotiated on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis. To be eligible, applicants must be Australian citizens. These are security-designated positions and the successful applicants will be required to hold or obtain an Australian Government Negative Vetting 2 security clearance
