Introduction
The Australian Civil-Military Centre (ACMC) is an Australian Government initiative. ACMC's mission is to support the development of national civil-military-police capabilities to prevent, prepare for and respond more effectively to conflicts overseas and disasters domestically and overseas.

The ACMC promotes best practice civil-military-police collaboration and engagement in conflict and disaster management, using a multiagency approach. The ACMC is a small, dynamic organisation drawing staff from a number of Australian Government departments and agencies (Defence, Foreign Affairs and Trade, Home Affairs- Emergency Management Australia, and the Australian Federal Police), as well as the New Zealand Government, and the Non-Government sector through the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID).

Applying a collaborative approach and working with partner governments, the United Nations, international organisations, regional bodies and other stakeholders, the ACMC seeks to improve national and regional civil-military-police capacity to respond to conflict and disaster management internationally and domestically, through education, engagement and collaboration, supporting related research and sharing best practices.

Your Role
The Executive Director, Australian Civilian Military Centre (ACMC), will be expected to:

• Develop, foster and promote a multiagency approach to deliver on the ACMC value proposition and ensure Partner and/or Stakeholder satisfaction on the quality and alignment of the Australian Civil-Military Centre’s outputs;
• Lead and manage the ACMC's three Directorates, embedded staff from Australian Government Departments and New Zealand, and AFCID to promote effective and efficient civil-military-police coordination for overseas and domestic operations;
• Engage and assist Australian Government agencies to ensure Australia's civil-military-police effectiveness in conflict and disaster management;
• Promote effective civil-military-police interaction in conflict and disaster management, particularly in the thematic areas of:
•      peace and stabilisation operations;
•      conflict prevention;
•      protection of civilians;
•      women, peace and security;
•      governance and rule of law;
•      humanitarian and recovery initiatives; and
•      disaster response and mitigation.
• Develop cooperative relationships with key Australian and international organisations (including relevant UN agencies, international militaries and peacekeeping centres, tertiary institutions, think-tanks, non-government organisations and the commercial sector) to identify and promote best practise on civil-military-police issues; and
• Direct and manage activities such as the delivery of a Whole of Government Lessons Framework, facilitating interagency participation in military exercises and contributing to advancing the Australian Governments civil-military-police interaction.

Engagement may be negotiated on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis. To be eligible, applicants must be Australian citizens. This is a security-designated position and the successful applicant will be required to hold or obtain a Positive Vetting security clearance
