The Land Engineering Agency provides services in engineering, testing, design and development, and technical data management. These services are provided across the whole of the Defence Capability Life Cycle.

As an Engineering Manager, you will be given a unique opportunity to lead an engineering and technical team to deliver Australian Defence Force systems that are at the leading edge of Defence capability. 

Your responsibilities will require you to apply your engineering management skills and technical experience across a wide range of activities to ensure successful requirements development, acquisition and in-service support of land materiel. 

You will be able to use your initiative to work under broad direction and policy control to lead a team to provide professional engineering expertise to support the achievement of technical integrity of land military equipment and systems acquired by the Land Domain projects and fleets in accordance with the Land Technical Regulatory Framework requirements.

Land military equipment and systems may consist of, but are not limited to: vehicle and armoured vehicle systems, soldier protection, weapons, biomedical, communications, simulation, power generation as well as chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear systems.

In addition, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for exercising assigned engineering authorities and any Technical Regulatory Authority delegations for managing the technical certification, thereby ensuring that land materiel is fit-for-service, safe, and environmentally compliant.

The Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) is an integral part of the Department of Defence. This group purchases and maintains military equipment and supplies in the quantities and to the service levels that are required by Defence and approved by Government.

Our Ideal Candidate
The right person for this role will be an experienced engineering professional responsible for undertaking complex to very complex system engineering management associated with land materiel. 

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Engineering degree (see Mandatory Qualifications)
  • Have engineering management experience with a proven track record of delivering engineering outcomes
  • Have excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Be capable of leading, managing and mentoring successful teams
  • Experience working within a Technical Regulatory Framework
