APS4 ICT Future Technical Leader (FTL) Program
Overview of the Branch and Section:
Visa, Citizenship & Digital Systems (VCDS) Branch provides the digital environment to enable the effective and efficient delivery of Visa and Citizenship programs. We do this by providing high quality expertise and knowledge in digital system design, development of visa lodgement and decision making systems, and IT support for business needs. We also provide enterprise services for system-to-system integration, system quality assurance and testing.
There are six Sections in VCDS Branch running and sustaining approximately 48 business systems, 160 support systems and 108 enabling systems.
VCDS Branch also develops and builds cutting edge technology for the Department such as our API Gateway that is being used to transform the way we work in ICT.
The Traveller Cargo and Trade Systems (TCTS) Branch provides ICT capability for critical trade and travel systems for the Australian Border Force (ABF) and portfolio agencies. These systems facilitate the movement of legitimate goods and people across Australian borders, while ensuring border security by disrupting unauthorised activities. The Branch directly contributes to the prosperity and security outcomes for the Department and Australia.
TCTS Branch has six different sections with a multi-skilled workforce who are responsible for looking after approximately 70 different ICT systems for our varied stakeholders. TCTS Branch maintains the Government’s critical Integrated Cargo System (ICS) which comprises 40+ different highly integrated eco-systems that facilitate goods movement across our border via air, sea and post. TCTS Branch supports the Department’s Traveller systems including kiosks and SmartGates that are used in our airports and ensure that we have a highly efficient way for people to move through Australia’s border. The Branch also supports the Department’s Pega Platform and business applications.
About the role:
VCDS Branch and TCTS Branch are launching a Future Technical Leader (FTL) Program for people who have a strong passion for working in ICT and a keen interest to learn all things ICT related. The FTL Program will give you hands on experience working on real ICT projects that benefit Australia, along with learning and development opportunities to upskill you so that you can step into an exciting career as an ICT professional at Home Affairs.
Several roles are being offered through the FTL Program including: Testing, Change Support, Project and Delivery Coordination, Software Development and Business Analysis. These roles will be in various sections in these branches and you will be working on some of the Department’s most critical systems.
