About the team
The Physical Metrology Branch leads the development, maintenance and dissemination of Australia’s peak physical measurement standards. We provide the traceability assurance that measurements made in Australia are accepted internationally. The branch is an active participant in international measurement forums. Through the delivery of a range of calibrations and other measurement services branch staff share their expertise with Australian and international stakeholders. This includes to support research, process improvements, product optimisation and better measurement practice across the economic landscape.
The National Measurement Institute's Low Frequency Standards team is responsible for Australia’s primary standards for voltage, current, electrical power and energy, supporting reliable measurements across Australia in areas such as electricity networks, manufacturing, defence, and aviation. The team develops and maintains measurement systems for electrical standards (including quantum standards), and provides associated measurement services.

You are an engineer/scientist keen to join the team and contribute to the development of new technologies and services to meet emerging customer requirements, and to provide electrical measurements services to industry.
You are an electrical or electronics engineer or experimental physicist looking for an opportunity to develop professionally while applying your diverse skillset to practical measurement challenges in a service delivery environment. You are adaptable, flexible, and ready to learn, with the aim to become a recognised national and international expert in electrical metrology.
You will lead by example, demonstrate behaviours consistent with the values of being inclusive, strategic, influential, adaptable, accountable and innovative and support others to do the same.
As the successful candidate, you will have:
Familiarity with top-level digital instruments such as Precision Calibrators and Precision Digital Multimeters is desirable but not essential.
