The Morrison Government says it has saved $3 billion in a crackdown on dodgy childcare providers.

Education Minister Dan Tehan says over 380 services are now listed on the Child Care Enforcement Register – a list of services that have been the subject of a sanction or immediate suspension.

“We are taking tough action against dodgy childcare operators who are ripping off hard-working Aussie families,” Mr Tehan said.

“Providers who are rorting the childcare system, ripping off families and taxpayers will be caught and may face criminal charges.”

More than one million Australian children have been in the care of early education and childcare services in the last year, which are partly supported by government money.

More than four million sessions of care, from centre-based day care and family day care, are logged on average each week.

The Government says it has saved $3 billion in taxpayer money by stopping payments to dodgy operators.
